Alexandr Wang
Chief AI Officer, Meta; head of Meta Superintelligence Labs
Alexandr Wang is Chief AI Officer of Meta Platforms and head of Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL), the organization that contains all of Meta’s AI research, model and product teams. He joined Meta in June 2025, when Mark Zuckerberg announced in a memo that “Alexandr Wang has joined Meta to serve as our Chief AI Officer and lead MSL.”
Wang co-founded Scale AI in 2016 with Lucy Guo after leaving MIT, and served as its CEO. Scale became a major supplier of data labelling and evaluation services to AI labs and governments. In June 2025 Meta invested roughly $14.3 billion for a 49 percent stake in Scale AI, and Wang stepped down as CEO while remaining on its board. He was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2018.
At Meta, Wang leads TBD Lab, the group within MSL charged with developing the company’s next generation of frontier models. In April 2026 MSL released Muse Spark, its first model built from the ground up, after a nine-month effort led by Wang; it now powers Meta AI. In March 2026 Meta moved some engineering and data-pipeline teams from Wang to a new applied AI engineering organization, while he remained head of MSL.
Wang’s role sits inside the clearest corporate adoption of the term: Meta’s stated vision is “personal superintelligence for everyone.” Meta has not claimed to have built such a system.
